The Willamette River Basin is a great place to live but projections that the basin’s population will nearly double by the year 2050 will force us to make important decisions about how to accommodate growth while preserving this “great” place.
Our objective is to provide information that helps both policymakers and local citizens make better decisions about land and water use in Willamette River Basin. As this site grows, you will find interpretative features, map and data tools, and data such as multimedia stories, web-based geographic information system applications and online maps. We are also providing a digital library of pertinent reports and links to people and other web resources that can assist you. If you need spatial data for geographic information system analysis, search the Virtual Oregon Natural Resources Data Clearinghouse.
The Willamette Basin Explorer is brought to you through a partnership between the University of Oregon, Oregon State University, Defenders of Wildlife, and the Willamette Restoration Initiative made possible by a grant from the Meyer Memorial Trust. Additional monies were contributed by the Oregon Watershed Enhancement Board to provide support for development of the Willamette Basin Explorer website.
The Web site was made public in June of 2004.
